The Republican State Enterprise with the right of economic conducting "The Kazakhstan Institute of Metrology (RGP KazInMetr) under Committee on Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan "( hereinafter referred to as - RGP KazInMetr) is created by the Order # 1342 of the Governmental of the Republic Kazakhstan from November 1, 1996  and it is a unique institute on metrology in the Republic of Kazakhstan for performance of the problems on improvement of technical base and harmonization of standard documents on metrology, for maintenance of measurements unity according to international requirements, professional training and improvement of professional skills of specialists in the field of metrology.

Structure RGP KazIM includes headquarters plant in Astana and five branches:

The South Kazakhstan branch in of Almaty;

The West Kazakhstan branch in Uralsk;

The East Kazakhstan branch in Ust Kamenogorsk;

The Aktyubinsk branch in Aktyubinsk;

The Karaganda branch in Karaganda.

According to the assigned problems the institute carries out activity in the following directions:

Carries out scientific development, creation, storage, application and metrological certification of sizes unit standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Carries out reproduction and transfer of the unit sizes from the Republic of Kazakhstan standards to initial standards of legal entities and physical persons by means of checking or calibration;

Participates in development and realization of government programs on creation and perfection of reference base of size units, applied scientific researches in the field of metrology as the scientific metrological centre.

Carries out research works on development and manufacturing of standard samples of structure and properties of substances and materials;

Participates in the checkings of standards of size units of the Republic of Kazakhstan at interstate and international levels;

Carries out checking, calibration, repair and manufacture of measuring apparatuses;

Participates in developing and realization of legislative, standard legal certificates in the field of technical regulation and maintenance of measurements unity;

Makes metrological examination of standard documents and engineering specifications on conformity to state standards, recommendations and other standard documents in the field of technical regulation and metrology, including checking techniques;

Carries out works on measuring apparatuses tests, metrological certification of measuring apparatuses, techniques of measurement performance, certification of the test equipment;

Participates in works by recognition of tests results and statements type, carries out checking and metrological certification of measuring apparatuses;

Carries out works by recognition of primary checking (calibration) results of the measuring apparatuses performed by foreign metrological organizations;

Participates in works on certification and certification of verification officers in the field of metrology;

Conducts the Register state system on maintenance of measurements unity in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Participates in carrying out of works under the admission of application  techniques on the  performance of measurements of the Commonwealth Independent States countries.

RGP KazInMetr closely co-operates with foreign metrological and scientific research institutes.

The overall objective of our activity is protection of citizens’ interests and the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan from consequences of measurements doubtful results, maintenance the safety and quality of domestic and imported production, processes (works) and services, improvement of technical base and harmonization of standard documents on metrology for maintenance of measurements unity according to international requirements, as well as professional training and improvement of professional skills of specialists in the field of metrology.

Development of technical (reference) base of size units of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The technical basis of GSI РК is made by the state standards of size units of from which the sizes of units are transferred to initial standards to metrological services of the Republic. The reference base of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted by RGP KazInMetr consists of 49 state standards of size units:

According to the Order #1191of the Government of the Republic Kazakhstan from December 12, 2006   the Program of development of the state system of maintenance of measurements unity of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2009 is confirmed. According to the Program creation of new and modernization of existing standards is carried out.
